Location: Auburn State Recreation Area & Old Town Auburn
Date: Sunday, November 14, 2010
Time: 8am - 4pm
Fee: $125.00
Tour Leader: Sherri Meyer
Tour Size: 4-8 participants

Join Sherri for a unique, affordable and fun full day Photo Tour & Workshop, in the Auburn State Recreation Area (ASRA) and Old town, Auburn, California. We will spend the first part of the tour photographing the American River, the famous & iconic Foresthill and No Hands bridges, abstracts, landscapes, nature, patterns, textures and more. We will also spend some time viewing our digital images, discussing them and re-shooting them if necessary. Then, we will break for lunch by the beautiful American River (sandwiches, bottled water and soft drinks provided). After lunch, we will hop in our vehicles and caravan to Old Town Auburn. There we will have the opportunity to photograph old buildings (some of which were featured in the very popular movie “Phenomenon”), Auburn icons, street scenes, abstracts, patterns, textures and more!

*The normal fee is $125.00 per person, however we are currently offering a “2 for 1” Fall Special. That means, you can sign up at the normal price of $125.00 and bring a friend along for “free.”

Who Should Attend – This tour is a perfect mix for locals, as well as visitors to the area, who would like to improve their digital photography skills, while learning a little bit of history about the California Gold Country. All levels of photographers welcome. Please have a basic understanding of how to use your camera. NOTE: You should be in good enough physical condition to walk a few blocks with hills and able to climb stairs, while carrying your camera gear. While at the river, we will also be doing some light hiking.

What you will learn – Participants will learn tips on composition, lighting, shooting fall color, what makes a travel photo, how to see a photograph, how to add impact to your photos, how to read a histogram, history about Auburn and more.

What to bring – Required: Digital Camera with a viewing screen (so we can view and discuss our images), fresh/fully charged spare batteries and spare memory cards. Recommended: Although any digital camera with a viewing screen will work for this tour/workshop, I highly recommend a DSLR and zoom lenses covering the range from approx.16mm to 200mm or longer. Other recommendations: polarizer, neutral density (ND) filter, tripod, flash, raingear and your camera manual.

What to wear - Auburn usually begins to get a little chilly in November. The temps should be in the 50’s-60’s. Dress comfortably in layers and wear good walking shoes.

What is included – Lunch, Bottled Water & Sodas. Recommended: If you have any dietary limitations, you will probably want to bring your own snacks.

What is not included – Transportation, Lodging.

Payments/Registration – Registration must be in by the Wednesday prior to the tour. Due to the short registration period, payments in full are due upon registration and can be made by credit card through PayPal. After we receive your payment, a confirmation email will be sent to you with where to meet and park. You will also receive a Waiver of Liability, which MUST be signed and returned to me the day of the tour & workshop. NOTE: Future tours & workshops will also be payable by cleared check (which usually takes about 10 days) or money order.

Cancellation policy, refunds – Also due to the short registration period, if YOU cancel, we will refund $100.00 of your payment. The remaining $25.00 is non-refundable. If WE should cancel this tour/workshop for lack of registrants or due to weather, you will be notified by email and refunded the entire amount. We are not responsible for any other costs that you incur, as a result of the cancellation.

Directions to Auburn – Please refer to this link for directions: Auburn, CA.

Other things to do in the Gold Country & Lake Tahoe area – If you need recommendations on things to do, places to stay and places to eat please email me at: sherri@sherrimeyer.com.

Please no dogs! My profile photo shows me with my dog, Cocoa. She goes ALMOST everywhere Jeff and I go, but photo tours & workshops are no place for a dog. I can, however, recommend a great Pet Sitting Service, here in Auburn, if you should have a need for one.
